Construction begins for Surrey, B.C. outdoor athletics centre

Construction is underway at a new outdoor athletics centre in Surrey, B.C.

Once complete, the facility is expected to serve as a premier destination for such sports as soccer, football and track and field.

The Bear Creek Athletics Centre will be able to accommodate about 2,000 people with the possible expansion to seat another 1,000 people. The centre will include a partially covered grandstand, track upgrades, and new change rooms and washrooms.

The project was approved in the city’s 2021 five-year capital financial plan.
