Approval to allow park model homes on Goderich, Ont. golf course granted by council

Approval has been granted for the installation of 68 park model homes at the Maitland River Golf and Resort Park in Goderich, Ont.

The matter has been one of controversy. Residents shared their concerns during a lengthy public meeting in November before it went before council. The community is split in its thoughts, with some arguing there are apt to be environmental concerns such as flooding and increased traffic. Others suggest the land should be used for affordable housing instead of residential units.

Some residents believe the project would be of economical benefit to the community and the golf course.

The part of the golf course property slated for the project would be rezoned to recreational commercial, with special provisions, from private open space.
