Portion of former Arrowdale Golf Course in Brantford re-opens as new dog park

Property was mired in controversy for years amid redevelopment plans

March 2, 2023  By Turf & Rec

The former Arrowdale Golf Course in Brantford, Ont. – a portion of which was sold last fall amid years of controversy – is the home of two new dog parks. The large dog park opened yesterday while another fenced-in area dedicated to smaller dogs will open later in the spring once ground conditions improve.

The city had planned for 17 acres of the former nine-hole golf course property to be retained as community parkland, making it Brantford’s largest park to be built in 100 years.

The remaining 32 acres of the property were sold last year to Elite M.D. Arrowdale Holdings Inc. for $14 million. Sale proceeds are earmarked for affordable housing projects in the city along with tax revenue from the redevelopment of the golf course property.
