Goderich council defers housing proposal for local golf course property
Addition of up to 68 mobile homes would help sustain Maitland River course
November 10, 2023 By Turf & Rec

A proposal to rezone some of the Maitland River Golf and Resort Park in Goderich, Ont. to allow housing has been deferred by council until later this month.
The proposal by club owners Heidi and Jim Peever is to reconfigure the second and third holes to allow up to 68 mobile homes on the property.
Jim Peever told council he wishes to continue to operate the Maitland River property as a golf course, even though it has been losing money in recent years. He said developing part of the property for housing will help sustain it.
Members of public attending the meeting were split in their opinion of the proposal, with six in favour and 10 in opposition.
It hasn’t been established if the proposal mobile home units would be open year round.,
