Three more Niagara-area high schools approved for new artificial turf sports fields
Board says fields provide extended seasons, more consistent field conditions
May 26, 2023 By Turf & Rec
The District School Board of Niagara is spending about $9 million to install new artificial turf fields at three of its high schools.
Laura Secord, Eastdale, and Eden high schools have been approved for the new fields which raises the number of artificial fields within the school board to 13.
The three schools will also have new bleachers and lighting installed.
The board notes that artificial fields provide the advantage of more play due to consistent field conditions, with play extended to later in the fall and games being able to be played earlier in the spring.
