Canada’s tree-planting program off to slow start, but MNR says plan won’t fall behind
December 13, 2021 By Turf & Rec

Canada is off to a slow start in its ambitious tree-planting strategy which is aimed at helping the country meet its climate change targets by 2030. In 2019, the Liberals pledged to plant two billion trees over the next decade, but so far have planted only 8.5 million, or 0.4 per cent of its target. The Ministry of Natural Resources has assured Canadians the program will not fall behind, and says about 30 million trees will be planted by the end of this year.
