Windor, Ont. is poised for its first regulation-size cricket field. The city has earmarked $100,000 for a design of a field to be situated at Derwent Park.

Residents can provide input on the planned field until Jan. 12.

Twenty-six teams belonging to the Windsor-Essex Cricket League have been playing on two smaller fields at Jackson and Optimist parks. Those fields, however, have limited hours of usage, aren’t regularly maintained and can’t be used in the winter.

The city has been working with a consultant and landscape architect on the design of the field as well as stakeholders.

The field is to include irrigation, lighting, bleachers and change rooms.

Once a design has been finalized, a master plan is expected to be adopted.
