Vandals deliberately set fire to golf course equipment at Prince Rupert Golf Club
Damages estimated at $150,000
January 19, 2024 By Turf & Rec
About $150,000 in damages were incurred to golf course equipment earlier this week at the Prince Rupert Golf Club when a golf cart, truck and tractor were set ablaze.
Police have said the incident was an act of arson, noting the offenders breached a fenced-in area where the equipment was stored.
Club officials are concerned it will be difficult to replace the equipment in a timely fashion, causing the golf course to be short as it prepares for the coming season.
News of the arson has generated much community support. The club’s Facebook page has had more visitor traffic than usual since the incident.
