Burlington’s Lowville Golf Club was targeted Tuesday by vandals, who broke into a golf cart enclosure and recklessly drove the vehicles on the road and golf course property.

Between $5,000 and $10,000 in damages have been reported. The incident, involving 10 to 12 individuals, occurred about 1:25 a.m. A lock was cut to gain access to the carts, which were later left scattered across the golf course as well as in ditches and along the roadway. Police say 21 carts were found abandoned on the property. Several of them were damaged.

The suspects fled the scene about 2 a.m. to awaiting vehicles at the Lowville United Church. Police say the suspects have been described as young adults or teenagers, but have no further information.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Halton Police at 905-825-4747 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
