User group demand leads to construction of new ball fields in Grande Prairie, Alta.

Two new ball diamonds are being added to South Bear Creek Park in Grande Prairie, Alta.

Work is already underway on the diamonds which are coming as a result of user groups’ needs.

Disruptions to the park’s trail network are expected so that the necessary equipment and materials can get in. Although completion of the diamonds is expected later in July, their openings are dependent upon the success of the construction. The fields are being sodded and will need to properly root before they can be played on. The construction contractor will be irrigating the sod in August.

The project is being funded in part by an $800,000 grant from the Canada Infrastructure program.
