Team of volunteers dethatch 100-year-old lawn bowling greens to get ready for season

The Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club is celebrating its 100th season this year, and the pristine greens are getting ready for play.

A team of volunteers recently dethatched the playing surfaces to let play begin. The club is situated at Nanaimo’s Bowen Park.

The borders of the greens have been trimmed, and members are eager to compete again following a six-month hiatus.
