Sports Turf Canada announces recipients of Bladon, Sheard scholarships

Sports Turf Canada has announced the recipients of two scholarships it sponsors.

The Michael J. Bladon Scholarship has been awarded to Rob Renda, who is currently employed at The Thornhill Club in Thornhill, Ont. After his second season working, he became an assistant in training in the department and is currently enrolled at Humber College in the final semesters of the professional golf management program.

Renda’s goal is to become a high-class superintendent, having been inspired by the team surrounding him at The Thornhill Club. The club offers golf, curling, tennis and athletics.

Fedja Muzur, who has been in the industry the past eight years, is the recipient of the Robert Sheard Scholarship.

He completed his business management diploma from BCIT, landing his first job in the parks and turf industry with the District of West Vancouver. From there, he moved to the District of North Vancouver and worked part-time during the summer at the Seymour Golf & Country Club. He currently works at the Northlands Golf Course in North Vancouver while continuing his studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
