School boards in Sarnia-Lambton, Ont. are embarking on a project to bring a world-class track and field facility to the community.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) and Conseil Scolaire Catholique (CSC) Providence are soliciting partners for the venture, seeking grants or donations upwards of $1 million. The goal is to upgrade the track and field facilities at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School that would be used by the boards’ schools and the community.

The SCCDSB is putting $1.07 million into the project to upgrade the existing track while CSC Providence is funding about seven per cent of the total cost.

The track and field facilities are used by students from St. Patrick’s and St. Francis Xavier High School. The infield is used for high school soccer and will be available for elementary school use once the upgrades are completed.
