Public input sought to help develop green space at Burlington community centre

Redevelopment includes loss of track and football field

March 28, 2024  By Turf & Rec

The site at Burlington, Ont.’s Robert Bateman Community Centre is being redeveloped, resulting in the loss of a track and field. The controversial loss of the track and football field is to make way for additional parking at the site which is being converted into a large community hub that will accommodate a university campus.

Sufficient green space will still be available at the site with plans to incorporate the neighbouring Frontenac Park into an area for community use.

The public is being urged to complete an online survey for the area’s future use. People can provide feedback on the outdoor space’s redevelopment, helping the city to create different concepts.

Features that can’t be incorporated into the green space include sports fields, pickleball and basketball courts, and sports field lighting.
