Premier Ford presented ‘key to the town’ for his part in saving Glen Abbey from development

Three MPPs share honour with premier

April 6, 2022  By Turf & Rec

Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s efforts to help save Oakville’s Glen Abbey Golf Course from succumbing to development has resulted in him being presented the “key to the town.”

Ford shared the honour with fellow Conservative MPPs Steve Clark, minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing; Stephen Crawford, Oakville; and Effie Triantafilopoulos, Oakville North-Burlington.

The premier claimed it marked the first time he had been so honoured by a municipality.

The Ontario government played a key role in 2021 to end a dispute between developers and ratepayers groups by convincing Glen Abbey operator ClubLink to abandon its plan to turn part of the golf course property into housing.
