Owen Sound, Ont. joins coveted ‘Tree City of the World’ group of municipalities honoured for tree care
18 Canadian cities earn recognition

Owen Sound, Ont. has joined the club as a “Tree City of the World.” It is one of 18 such Canadian cities recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. To be recognized for the honour, a municipality must meet five criteria that demonstrates its commitment to caring for trees in the urban forest. Throughout the world, only 138 have been recognized for the honour.
