A series of renovations including a new irrigation system and a modernizing of five greens at Red Deer, Alta.’s River Bend Golf & Recreation Area has been postponed until 2025.

Originally slated for 2024, the extent of the work would mean a full-year closure of the golf facilities. Instead, golfers can expect a full season of play next year.

Capital funding amounting to $5.4 million was approved by council for the golf course’s short-term renovations.

The golf course’s original irrigation system was installed in 1985, two years prior to its official opening.

In addition to new irrigation work and the modernization of greens, tee decks will undergo modifications to make the golf course more challenging for golfers of all skill levels.
