Long-awaited Toronto park opening continues to be delayed by health and safety issues

Beare Park built atop old dump site

A 75-hectare park in Toronto has been in the making for the past 10 years, but is still unable to officially open to the public due to unresolved environmental issues. Beare Park was constructed atop an old dump site, but the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks won’t greenlight its opening it meets the necessary health and safety requirements. The delay is frustrating residents in Pickering and northeast Scarborough.
