Gypsy moth caterpillars defoliating trees in Kingston area at brisk pace

Wrapping burlap bands around trees is helpful

The gypsy moth caterpillar is eating its way through the Kingston, Ont. area. Caterpillars are defoliating trees at a brisk pace, leaving trees bare. The Nature Conservancy of Canada suggests those who wish to protect their trees to wrap burlap bands around their trunks to prevent them from moving upwards into the tree.
