Experts say 2021 could be record year for gypsy moth infestation in Ontario
Situation likely to get worse before getting better
June 17, 2021 By FM96 London
Gypsy moth infestations occur in Ontario about once in every seven to 10 years, and 2021 is shaping up to be one of the worst ever. Experts are saying this could be a record year for tree damage. Insects are stripping oak, maple, aspen, and birch trees of their foliage. A professor in behavioural ecology and apiculture with the University of Guelph said the situation will get worse before it gets better.
