Field seeding and ongoing renovations delay opening of ball field at Peachland, B.C. park

Play won't begin until 2025

April 19, 2024  By Turf & Rec

Although improvements have been made to Turner Park in Peachland, B.C., including benches, dugouts and backstop, play at the baseball field won’t begin until next year.

The field’s post-renovations opening was anticipated for this spring, but it has only just been seeded and will need to be managed this season before play can begin.

Several other projects remain to be completed at the park, including the installation of irrigation, new viewing bleachers at the baseball diamond, removal of sports box asphalt to be replaced by grass, and improvements for accessibility.

The cost of the renovations are being covered through a portion of $2.7 million the Peachland district received from the province’s Growing Communities Fund and from a grant provided by the Jays Care Foundation.
