A tired baseball field in Peachland, B.C. is poised to become a “field of dreams” through an infusion of funds from the Toronto Blue Jays’ charitable arm.

The municipality will receive about $50,000 from the Jays Care Foundation to spruce up the field at Turner Park. The money will be added to an additional $50,000 the city has budgeted for field improvements that include a new backstop, dugouts and bleachers.

The Blue Jays’ charity is supporting 15 Canadian municipalities this year through its Toronto Blue Jays Field of Dreams program. Peachland is the lone British Columbia city among this year’s funding recipients.

The charity program has helped 145 projects throughout Canada over the past decade with more than $15 million in funding provided.
