Untimely obstacles delay opening of new Edmonton ball park for another year

The Edmonton Prospects of the Western Canadian Baseball League will have to wait another year before they take the field at their new ball park. The opening of the new Metro Ballpark in Spruce Grove won’t take place until 2023. It was hoped the team could begin playing at its new facility by opening day of 2022, but a number of obstacles hindered the park’s construction schedule, including a supply chain shortage triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and issues related to the Migratory Bird Act.
