Eastern Ontario golf courses get early jump on season, but colder weather is forecast

Calabogie Highlands Golf Resort has its earliest opening in 41-year history

Some Ottawa-area golf courses are experiencing their earliest ever openings amid this year’s mild late winter weather.

Calabogie Highlands Golf Resort opened for play March 8 which was the earliest it has ever opened in its 41-year history. Other eastern Ontario golf courses that have recently opened include Nine Golf in Belleville, Crooked Creek in Athens, Glen Cedars near Morrisburg, Mapleview in Perth, Oak Hills near Quinte West and Dragonfly Golf Links in Renfrew.

Colder weather is expected this week, and some of these courses expect to shut down while riding out the return of more seasonable temperatures.

Courses that have opened early have experienced dryer-than-normal conditions for this time of year.
