Collapsed inflatable sports dome ready to reopen following months of repairs

Milton, Ont. field will be covered during fall and winter months

The Milton (Ont.) Indoor Turf Centre, aka the SFX Dome, is set to reopen following December’s collapse of the facility’s inflatable dome.

Ongoing repairs have been made to the site following windstorm damage from late last year. The town spent $2 million for a private operator to install the air-supported dome and keep it maintained.

Located near St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School, the facility consists of a full-size soccer field that can be converted into two half-fields or four quarter-fields. It is utilized by sports teams in the municipality for games and practices and for training purposes.

The dome is removed during the spring and summer seasons. The artificial turf field is maintained during the dome-less seasons by the Halton Catholic District School Board.
