Ground has been broken in Brampton, Ont. for a new cricket pitch with artificial turf at Turner Fenton Secondary School.

The fully lit pitch will be available for use by both the school’s students and the community at large. It is the city’s first joint-use cricket facility with community use being assigned outside school hours.

The facility will also include artificial turf wickets and player pavilions.

Cricket is a booming sport in Brampton, and the city has declared itself Canada’s cricket capital.
