Removing dominant goose expected to scare others away
July 20, 2021 By Castanet
City council in Vernon, B.C. is cracking down on its Canada geese problem by implementing a “kill to scare” program. The city had originally intended to pursue a cull, but scrapped the idea after learning of the amount of red tape involved. The technique behind the kill to scare program involves taking out the socially dominant goose from the flock, thereby scaring the others away.
