Switching out artificial turf for natural grass on NFL fields could cost league $12 million
Players lobbying for safer field conditions

Several of the National Football League’s leading players have been lobbying for the demise of artificial turf playing surfaces in recent months, suggesting synthetic fields are a major contributor to serious on-field injuries. The cost of converting the league’s artificial surfaces – 14 teams play on synthetic fields – is about $12 million.
