NFL players want league to do away with artificial turf playing fields as injuries mount
Owners like cheaper-to-maintain fields

NFL players are calling for an end to artificial turf playing fields, citing mounting safety concerns. Players are aghast that the game is still being played on synthetic turf in this day and age and that players are one play away from a career-ending injury. While players abhor the synthetic playing surfaces, NFL team owners say the fields are cheaper to maintain and offer greater durability to allow for more revenue-generating events.
