Replicating forest floor helps trees thrive along busy downtown Toronto street
Trees given ample room to grow

Trees are thriving along a busy downtown Toronto street where they’ve been given ample space to grow. A local arborist says the key is to allow individual trees to have about 30 cubic metres of soil in which to grow in a healthy manner. A forest floor setting is replicated with perennial plants, flowers and mulch. Low fencing also prevents pedestrians, cyclists and dogs from venturing onto the soil.
