Almost three-quarters of Burlington, Ont. residents who responded to an online survey favour an exchange of land between the city and the Halton District School Board that will see the board acquiring a football field and track.
The city is to give up about five acres of land near Burlington Central High School, which includes the sports facilities. In return, the city would acquire the former Robert Bateman High School, which closed two years ago.
The survey, which found 73 per cent of the 115 respondents in favour of the exchange, also found 87 per cent of respondents wish to see the closed high school converted into a satellite campus of Brock University.
A virtual public meeting to further discuss the possibilities is scheduled for May 31.
