Longtime superintendent Paul White passes away

Paul White, a past president of the Ontario Golf Superintendents Association and a 45-year member, has passed away.

White recently retired from the profession after a long association with the OGSA, the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (of which he was president in 1992) and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, of which he was a 49-year member.

His career as a superintendent included work at the Mississaugua Golf & Country Club and The Briars at Jackson's Point, Ont.

White's sons James and Scott are both actively working in the industry. James works for GT Golf & Turf, and Scott works for Ontario Seed Company after recently leaving the Donalda Golf Club in Toronto as superintendent.

The funeral service for White will take place Tuesday, June 28 at Knox United Church, 34 Market St., Sutton, Ont. at 11 a.m., with visitation in the church at 10 a.m. Visitors will be received at the Forrest and Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Rd., Sutton on Monday, June 27 from 7-9 p.m. Further details are expected to be posted at the funeral home's website at http://forrestandtaylor.com/ .
