Late April snow forces postponement of Sundre, Alta. golf course openings

Forest Heights Golf Course to feature new-look 18th hole

April 24, 2024  By Turf & Rec

Golf courses in the Sundre, Alta. area were forced to postpone their planned season openings after a late snowfall dashed hopes of a late April kickoff.

The season will now begin at the Sundre Golf Club on May 3.

Greens were reported to be healthy looking as of April 19. Tarps were still covering the putting surfaces into late April.

The Forest Heights Golf Course also reported a successful emergence from winter. It was still waiting for snow and ice to melt from the ninth hole, after which the irrigation system can be activated.

The 18th fairway is being reconfigured to accommodate 20 additional RV sites at the property. Formerly set up as a dogleg right role, it will soon become a dogleg left.
