Green roofs have been popular in Europe for several years and are becoming more prominent in Canada in recent times. Also known as “living architecture,” living roofs create cooling spaces, reduce stormwater runoff, improve air quality and provide habitat for birds and pollinators. Often planted with drought-tolerant plants, they also stand out in urban landscapes.
