Golf officials share their thoughts about earlier-than-normal course openings

There can be a price to pay for opening too early

Whether it’s attributed to climate change or coincidence, spring has been arriving earlier than normal in recent years, prompting many golf courses to open their doors well ahead of normal openings.

Although it’s a chance for courses to reap some early revenue, there’s a catch, and golf superintendents may find themselves facing the consequences later on.

The Hamilton Spectator recently interviewed a trio of area club officials who have expressed their opinions about early openings.
