Golf course proposal for P.E.I. site faces no opposition at public meeting

Golf course conceived for Confederation Bridge construction site

A public meeting to hear more details about a proposed new golf course for Borden-Carleton, P.E.I. has gained some favour in support of the project.

About 100 people turned out to hear developer Kris Taylor’s vision for a links-style golf course on property that had been used during construction of the Confederation Bridge. The province-owned 45-hectare parcel of land has been unused for about 25 years and is littered with pieces of concrete from the bridge’s construction.

The meeting heard no opposition to the golf course proposal, but many embraced the idea. One supporter said a golf course at the site would help with youth retention in the area.

Taylor said a new golf course would help the local business community and could lead to nearby residential development.

If the project is approved by the province, the golf course could potentially open by 2026, he said.
