Delta, B.C. park getting second artificial turf field to support growing facilities need
Removal of 25 trees necessary to accommodate project
March 14, 2024 By Turf & Rec
Work is underway at Delta, B.C.’s Mackie Park on a new artificial turf sports field. It is to replace a gravel field behind an elementary school, giving the park a second synthetic surface.
The removal of 25 trees from the site is the first order of business and is being done in compliance with the municipality’s tree protection and regulation bylaw. Replacement trees are to be planted in other locations.
The new field will be full-sized for soccer and football and will include LED lighting and perimeter fencing.
Delta’s new field will support the community’s growth and its need for more sports facilities. The project is funded by the B.C. Growing Communities Fund.
