An infusion of $70,000 is being made to a sports field in Cold Lake, Alta. to fix a drainage problem that has delayed spring openings and added to maintenance costs.
Lakeland Today rep0rts the funding will help address drainage issues at Thomas Varughese Memorial Field – an artificial turf facility constructed in 2018. The current drainage system has proven difficult to maintain during the winter and spring seasons.
Winter freezing has led to problems bringing the drainage system back online in the spring, leading to delayed openings.
The planned improvements include slope upgrades and regrading the sediment bay.
