Vancouver high school getting $17.1-million artificial turf field and six-lane track

Ground has been broken at West Vancouver Secondary School for the construction of a new $17.1-million field and running track.

The project consists of an artificial turf field with lighting, a six-lane track, and facilities for such field events as long jump, high jump, pole vault and discus.

The North Shore area of Vancouver is short of proper track facilities.

Completion of the new field and track is scheduled for 2025, but the city’s mayor said it could be achieved sooner than that.
