Field conditions at Steinbach (Man.) Regional Secondary School were given high praise by the winning teams competing at this month’s Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association (MHSAA) AAAA provincial soccer championships.
It marked the first time Steinbach played host to the event. Members of both the boys’ championship Glenboro team and the girls’ winning Vincent Massey team from Winnipeg noted the field was once of the nicest they had played on all season. Accolades were reserved for the cut of the grass and the precision of the lines. Players said they don’t usually compete on such high-end surfaces at the high school level.
A teacher at the host school said the warm-up field and the four full-length fields are well manicured and irrigated.
One of the boys’ team coaches it was rare to play on high school fields of such calibre, making note of their ideal height of cut.
