Approval has been given for the construction of a multi-sport artificial turf field at Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

This college wishes to meet the evolving needs of its students while creating opportunities for future growth and community engagement. This initiative also aims to enhance the student experience and campus life, expand opportunities for recreation and varsity sports, and supports student recruitment efforts.

“The board of governors supports the advancement of Sault College’s campus infrastructure with projects such as expanding on-campus residence capacity, and today’s approval to develop plans to build a turf field, track, and field house,” Don Mitchell, chair, Sault College board of governors, said. “These are investments in the future of this college and in this community.”

Paul Orazietti, director, athletics and student experience, added, “Our vision for a new turf field, track, and a field house is a symbol of our commitment to investing in our students. Athletics play an important role in shaping the student experience and we are confident that this new infrastructure will create more opportunities for recreational sport, training, competition, student recruitment and overall sport excellence.”
