Residents angered healthy trees were removed from park and not just pruned

It was cheaper to remove than prune them, residents told

About 200 healthy trees have been removed from a park in Winnipeg, and neighbouring residents aren’t too pleased about it. The removal was prompted by pruning concerns were raised next to a Manitoba Hydro corridor along the edge of Omand Park. Residents argued the situation should have involved careful pruning to preserve as much of the trees as possible, but were told their outright removal was a cheaper option.
