Nov. 26, 2018 – Members of both Grey Cup champion Calgary Stampeders and Ottawa Redblacks found the playing surface at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton was more ice than it was turf on Sunday. The artificlal turf blades commonly found on a football field are situated straight up, but Commonwealth Stadium was outfitted in 2015 for the women’s FIFA World Cup, with crooked blades, enabling moisture to gather underneath and freeze over.
