Landscapers, lawn care professionals speak out against possible city pesticide ban

While the City of Edmonton considers the idea of a cosmetic pesticide ban on public and private property, local landscape contractors and lawn care professionals have told council that such a move could precipitate the undoing of their businesses, create an underground market and turn the urban landscape into an ugly mess. Council also heard that pest control products have been approved by Health Canada, and banning their use on private property would be an “intrusion” by the city.
