Laid off Welland workers returning to work to address neglected green spaces
Grass and weeds have grown excessively since layoffs

The City of Welland is bringing back nine of its full-time public works staff on June 1 and another 14 to follow a week later, to tackle the tall grass and weeds growing on public property. The recalled staff will be dedicated to mowing grass and undertaking other maintenance tasks to address the backlog.
