Winnipeg’s urban forest on the defensive from several challenging fronts

Two insects and disease among threats to trees

Winnipeg’s urban forest will be challenged this year on several fronts, having to deal with three different invasive pests and the after-effects of a major storm last October. While crews are still cleaning up debris from the storm, the city’s trees are up against threats from the emerald ash borer, Dutch elm disease and the cottony ash psyllid.
