Golfers to play key role in helping Niagara Falls golf course achieve Audubon designation
Golfers encouraged to document plant, animal species while playing course
June 16, 2023 By Turf & Rec

Golfers playing the Whirlpool Golf Course in Niagara Falls on Tuesday will be asked to participate in a “bioblitz” event, aimed at documenting animal and plant species native to the property.
The bioblitz is a voluntary initiative to record such species within a designated location and time period.
Using an app called iNaturalist, participants can upload animal and plant photos. The program supports the outreach and education aspect of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for golf designation which Whirlpool is seeking to achieve.
The Audubon program assists golf courses in protecting the environment, preserving golf’s natural heritage and promoting environmental sustainability.
