Crowbush Cove first P.E.I. course to achieve Audubon sanctuary status
October 1, 2012 By Mike Jiggens
The Links at Crowbush Cove in Prince Edward Island has become the
island province’s first golf course to be recognized as an Audubon
cooperative sanctuary.
The recent designation is the culmination of 10 years of work, led by superintendent Nancy Pierce. In two years, Crowbush Cove will have to apply for recertification.
Audubon’s cooperative sanctuary system was created to promote environmental protection and preserve the natural heritage of golf. Key components of the program include less reliance on pesticides and water.
The Links at Crowbush Cove is one of less than 1,000 golf courses worldwide to earn the special designation.
