Artificial turf field design study approved in Thorold, but location remains undetermined

The City of Thorold, Ont. has approved a design study for a new artificial turf sports field, but where it will be located remains to be decided.

The study report is to be presented to council within the next eight weeks. A site deemed to be a leading contender is McMillan Park.

A proposal by the local school board to purchase the park for the installation of a synthetic field was made in 2022, but negotiations between the board and municipality eventually broke down.

Another site option under consideration is at the Thorold Secondary School property.
