
Dec. 13, 2018 – A Natural Resources Canada official is urging Halifax residents to keep an eye out for woodpecker activity, suggesting the bird’s presence on ash trees could be a sign of emerald ash borer activity. Woodpeckers also help curb the problem by eating up to 85 per cent of the larvae on a single tree.
